Paris, 13 February 2015 – MIPDoc today announces that two big hitters from the factual world, Discovery’s Phil Craig and National Geographic Channel’s Tim Pastore, will keynote, plus the World Premiere Screening of “Ø Gravity, A Mission in Space”.
Tim Pastore, President, Original Programming & Production, National Geographic Channels U.S., will share his insights on the group’s flourishing content development activities with the MIPDoc audience, and talk about where he sees the future of factual programming faced with ever-changing consumer habits. With a string of Emmy nominations to his credit, Pastore oversees all development, production and production management for National Geographic Channel U.S., and is responsible for approximately 400 hours of content annually. Based in New York, he works closely with the head of international content for National Geographic Channels International and the NGCI team in London. Pastore will speak on Saturday 11 April at 4.45pm.
Phil Craig is Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer for Discovery Networks International, a division of the world’s leading pay-TV programmer Discovery Communications. An award-winning international producer and network executive, he leads the international production and development team that is the driving force behind many of Discovery’s global hit series, and supplies a content pipeline that spans more than 220 countries and territories. He will speak on Sunday 12 April at 4.15pm.
MIPDoc is also proud to announce the World Premiere Screening of Upside Distribution’s “Ø Gravity, A Mission in Space”. The 52-minute science/technology show accompanies two young astronauts on their first space mission from their training to their daily life above us. The German Alexander Gerst from the European Space Agency (ESA), the American Greg Reid Wiseman of NASA left Earth in 2014 for six months aboard the International Space Station (ISS) after a grueling five-year training session order to prepare themselves to live in zero gravity. The ultimate goal of this trip is to prepare a new generation of astronauts for the next giant leap for mankind: Mars. The second edition of the MIPDoc World Premiere Screening takes place on Saturday 11 April at 5.30pm, in presence of the Director Jürgen Hansen, and the astronauts Alexander Gerst and Greg Reid Wiseman.
Organised by Reed MIDEM, MIPDoc runs from April 11-12, ahead of the MIPTV global content market set for April 13-16 in Cannes.
